Step 6- what I learned

Amoung other things I learned that hemp comes from the cannabis sativa and had many more uses in anchient times than in the present day. Because hemp production is illegal in many contries and many better alternatives have been found hemp production has drastically decreased sense anchient times. Today there are over 25,000 uses for hemp but for most of products made from hemp there are many better alternatives. Hemp was used in anchient times much more for food than today. In present day food is not as scarce so people are much less likely to want to eat hemp than when people were desperate for food and willing to eat anything. In anchient China the primary use for hemp was for cloth but today there are many better substances used for cloth making. Hemp was very scratchy and corse so the use of cotton, silk and animal skins were later preferred and today there are hundreds of different materials to make fabric out of.

The information I learned about the research process was posibly even more vauluable than the information I learned on hemp itself. I learned that time management is key and waiting until the last minute is a horrible idea because learning through osmosis doesn't really work.

Step 7

I personaly like writing a paper purely because I'm extreamly scared speaking in front of people and I feel that perhaps I could tie a paper together better than I can with my blog and speech. I definantly learned just as much from this process but I prefer papers.

Step 3 : what do I want to know about this topic?

1) What are Hemps main uses today
2) What was Hemp used for in ancient times?
3) How is hemp grown today?
4) How was it grown in ancient times?
5) Can hemp be used as a drug?

Step 2

What I new before starting the project was fairly limited. I knew that throughout the ages hemp served many important perposes and was used for rope, twine, and cloth. I also knew that the psychotropic properties of hemp were also mention in many historical documents and still used today. I was also aware that hemp came from the Cannabis plant and was cultivated throughout the anchient world. But was unaware of the historical significance of this plant until reading more on my topic.
